Haven't tried this out yet - wondering if this allows linking a character to a character chat card (like can be found on CHUB Venus). I have a few custom ones I run locally, based off of characters from Skyrim and other fantasy games. Curious if I can link my custom Serana one to this mod and use it for talking with Serana in game.
You can very easily customize any characters bio and roleplay instructions. You prob can copy/paste those in with some minor edits to get a similar character.
Skyrim se has abundant mods and I want interaction with chim controlled followers. for example there is a cicero dance mod that can be initiated by the player. is there an edit I can do to the esp, like novice level papyrus scripting, in the creation kit to let the follower know and acknowledge they did the cicero dance? Will a defined message like
Yup it is possible to add custom actions/functions to be performed by the AI using our Plugin system. Our documentation is currently still pretty poor in regards to getting it working, which we will fix soon.

does anyone know if this will work with dragonborn speaks naturally, and skyvoice reloaded VR? I already have both of those mods in my modlist for my skyrimVR, but I'm considering dropping this in with them. or is this supposed to be a complete replacer for DSN? because I liked some of it's functionality that that mod provides. oh, and how does this work for talking to npcs for getting normal dialogue? I have Serana dialogue addon, which changes Serana's voice, so I'd want the changed voice to play for that, but am unsure if it's possible to do with this mod. I know when I asked on the minai page on another website a few monthsago, for their mods sapience feature, I could use spid to exclude npcs I didn't want to be picked up by that feature. is there something similar with this where there's a way to exclude npcs from even being grabbed by the ai?
ok, so I found out part of my answer for my questions. apparently after watching one of the videos on the chim youtube channel, I figured out you have to use a hotkey to start the ai interaction with just chim. but that still doesn't answer my question about whether this would work with dragonborn speaks naturally and skyvoice reloaded VR. so if someone knows if it would affect using those mods, please let me know.
Dudes, with the current skyrim mods and this mod, I have almost no interest in any other game, this is so good It is difficult to enjoy other things, of course some of us have the knowledge to make run a nice skyrim setup and enjoy it, but here it is a list of the coolest things I have done with this mod: -Some thalmor gave me a quest to find a talos worshiper, I convinced them to follow me to the place I found the Talos worshiper. Made them follow me to the haunted house, and Killed them all. A day after I was with Sofia my favorite follower (whit Chim AI of course), at the Silver Blood Inn, planning how to murder them. -I found an albino Rat at some Alchemy shop, told Sofia and the shop owner that I will ask Sheogorath to give the rat a humanlike mind, because he owned me a favor, from the Pelagius quest, (of course this is not straight forward, depends on me), asked sofia wat name should we give to the rat, she was brilliant telling me Maven, so Maven black-briar from Riften will get mad to be compared to a rat. So I convinced the shop owner that we should rise the rat to be famous just for the sake of spreading chaos, fun and madness in skyrim and she responded she was eager because she wanted to get away from the same routine of so many years. Of course this will not get any development until I teleport Maven to that shop, but is part of the plan and the roleplay. This one required to configure a voice and a personality for the rat in the CHIM config wizard. -During the first contracts of the dark brotherhood, they wanted me to kill Narfi, a beggar. When I talked to him he was asking for his lost sister, so I told him to follow me because I found his sister climbing the 7000 steps to High Hrothgar, then told him all was a lie, but that the Night Mother whispered the dark brotherhood he needed to die, cause his sister was dead, so by killing him he would be reunited with his sister, he accepted and waited to be executed by my character. When I killed him, Sofia was very mad at me, cause she told me I was evil, manipulating a poor soul until his last moment instead of just doing a clean and fast kill as the dark brotherhood demands, that surprised me. In that contract and the next I placed a sweet rol inside all the corpses, and Sofia was mad and mocking me cause i was being dramatic about the killings and leaving an assassin signature. -Given my character and group of followers a name, a guild, and tried to get recognized by other NPCs. -I will try to remember other crazy things I have done and then edit this comment, maybe you could share your experiences.

Yes, man. This is another Level of RPG and i think your story is great ^^ . I already saw some stories from others and it's really impressive. I think all RPGs should be like this from now on. I hope some day i could make a setup with this mod.
Update server button is all I need to do, correct? No need to replace DwemerAI4Skyrim3 folder and run 1) INSTALL Distro.bat again? Aside from updating AIAgent.

I was able to get Mantella running within a couple of hours. I am running a local Kobold server... And though I wish the responses were faster, it was OK. I quickly discovered the limits of Mantella, and I wanted more out of the conversations/interaction.
Emboldened with my Mantella success, I thought I would give CHIM a try...and...well... I fell flat on my face. Not only I am not experienced in the many configuration items required for CHIM to work, but the system requirements are fairly heavy for my computer. After installing the VM and required software, I am sitting at 75% Memory utilization before Skyrim even starts. No bueno.
This is a rather complex web of subsystems, and I feel that even if I could get it all working, it would not be reliable for a full game playthrough.
I was fairly happy with Mantella... its voice quality, and TTS were fine for me. It even records conversations and reloads them upon game re-start. I just wish the NPC could engage in more than 4 actions (all that Mantella supports)

But that mod is no longer supported/maintained... and thus my dreams were shattered.
Are CHIM and Mantella the only options? I know that there is no solution that just "plugs and plays"... but there has to be something better than Mantella (or something that enhances Mantella), but less complicated than CHIM. MinAI is really all I think I want, but they only support CHIM now. What is a milk drinker like me to do?
MinAI is not an AI mod by itself; it provides extra functionality to CHIM or Mantella. And MinAI for CHIM is downloaded from github, not from that nexus page. If you're having problems with the installation, try asking in the discord. People are very quick to offer help.

At this point I made the decision that I have to accelerate my acquisition of a (fast enough for my needs) local LLM interpreter in my home. Both for the recurring cost, and for my privacy, I do not want to use an external LLM. I had been wanting to have one for a while for other reasons besides the novelty of AI driven NPCs. Now I have even more motivation.
I guess I was screaming at the wind, because I was so close to something that worked for me, and yet...not enough. Tis all right.
I also detest Discord... who monitors conversations, and dishes out account bans and suspensions based on their socio-political opinions (even in private 1:1 conversations). Lets see how far I get without getting desperate and feeling forced to use Discord.
dude pay $5 and itll last you 1 month of usage with llama 4 on openrouter. No beefy pc required. I dont understand how some people would rather suffer and get frstrated rather than pay $5 which theyll spend on ice cream
That is a rather shallow reply to a deeper conversation I specifically mentioned Privacy as a requirement... and While I listed "recurring cost" as a reason, it is not for the $$ amount, just the hassle. I actually did pay for 3rd party services already, and validated my use case. Now I want to make it my own, and not rely on outside parties.
Regardless... I appreciate the push. I take that you are happily using CHIM. Cool for you. This is both entertaining and educational... bleeding edge of NPC interactions. And there is something cool about retrofitting it to a 15 year old game.
