Daedra hearts, gold, flawless gems, building materials and much more. Get this explorer in you awake. Stop packing up jewelery and other thngs to sell for merchants. Enter those caves without a quest, get hold of those bandit camps and retrieve every single piece of gold available in their loot. Delve into the catacombs and search every urn and spider web sack for gold or may you fall upon a Daedra heart after this Falmer attack! Who knows what you can find. Uninteresting places are now much more interesting. But wait.... New containers are available, crates and Mammoth skulls. What about those barrels? Just 3 or 4 apples? Skyrim is now full of commercial imports and goods. Get ingredients, building materials, ore and ingots. Dressers, end tables and wardrobe now hide some forgotten wealths like extra gold and flawless gems. So seek out every corner of Skyrim because NOW, hunting for riches is much more fun.

Yep, now 2025 and I have not delivered yet. Sorry for those of you waiting for an update! Familly, School, children, health, personal time has become scarce, basically Skyrim before this mod. My time is like the quatity of supplies and gold before Lost Treasures, lots of energy for very little time.

I am in the process of creating my new CBM guide and I will indeed end my Skyrim modding with THIS mod. I want to integrate this Lakeview Castle which will be VANILLA quest locked. I also have a plan for a major dungeon boss fight which is also going to be quest locked. I am soooo eager to play Skyrim again and mod it. Please know that all of your comments and support is helping me keep everything positive and I am very eager to go back in Skyrim.

Just know that Lost Treasures is NOT lost. I am still thinking about everything to integrate and build. In the mean time, please do not forget to endorse my mods if you like them, good comments are very appreciated too. I hope that you are enjoying your game.

Idea of this mod

There are 2 ways to play Skyrim. Immerssion oriented or Player oriented. Pleayer oriented games focus on the player. The world changes as the player levels up. Immerssion oriented has the world not revolve arround the player as if things have always been before the player arrived. I chose immerssion. So yes, you may find during your initial escape in crates some higher leveled ingredients because this is a fortified Helgen fort. Meaning that those that were there before you could have some special shipments and items. I did seperate the ingredients and items and balanced out the amount available. But it still is not meant to be centered arround your level. And the point of this mod is for you to spend time searching through crates, barrels and sacks. It adds up to the thrill of searching everywhere all over again in Skyrim.

Installation

Mod Manager installation: Use your mod manager for any of the files listed

MANUAL installation: Unzip the contents of the optional REQUIRED main file in your game's DATA folder and do the same for the optional Hyperborean Snow patch if you need it.

If you encounter weird snowy crates or Mammoth Skulls issues, even if I mention Hyperborean Snow Patch, it can be used with other snow textures as the patch simply changes transparency on the vanilla snow texture that other mods may use and change. I named it Hyperborean Snow Patch because I use that snow mod and I only tested it with that mod enabled.

Lost Treasures does not use any scripts and does not require any kind of scripting changes with third party tools or mods so the installation and uninstallation is safe anytime during gameplay.

Compatibility

Not compatible
with anything changing static crates and/or mammoth skulls like MisterB's Lootable Things.  You can install Dynamic Things Alternative with Lost Treasures, but, you must load Lost Treasures AFTER Dynamic Things Alternative. If you use LOOT, please check to make sure LOOT does not change that load order. Thanks to LiLaTLuv for testing that out. Please report any issues.

Lost Treasures uses Vanilla only assets so any mods replacing textures or adding objects will be compatible. Lost Treasures will NOT change loot of any containers that are NOT vanilla. I did not implement any patches for extra big mods adding new worlds or locations.

Lost Treasures has its own loot items and tables and does NOT change any of the Vanilla loots which means that it can be added on top of any mods that change loots in vanilla containers. Also, adding or removing this mod mid-game should not matter. Just be sure to follow the load order as mentioned below.

Load order

Put Lost Treasures lowest in your load order. It should not need any overwrites but if ever it asks you, simply accept the overwrite or load Lost Treasures after which ever mod Vortex may tell you.


Known issues/bugs, suggestions or desired changes

Do not hesitate to comment any bugs, issues, suggestions or desired changes. Here is what I am aware of for now:

  • Not all containers are owned. I started to make some of them owned but there's a lot of entries to change and they need to be modified 1 by 1 manually.

Some suggested mods

I strongly suggest these mods to give more power to the Lost Treasures mod and make looting much more rewarding and efficient.

• Sensible Bribes - Based on Speechcraft Not Level: This greatly increases the bribe prices to be much more reasonable. Entering Riften controlled by the Thieves Guild will require much more gold.
Economy Overhaul and Speechcraft Improvements: With this mod, you no longer can empty your found treasures easily to any merchants (Riverwood Trader...ahem...cough, cough!!). This also means that you will not get easy money from them so looting will feel much more rewarding and entering a cave will be much more tempting.

These other mods just add up to the feeling of luxury when finding hidden treasures, they are mostly visual overhauls.

Why did I create this?

I find it so boring to always be limited in my carrying capacity because I need to gather up items I do not use just to sell them to poor merchants who empty their pockets with my stuff sold to them. I also never really want to enter those caves or bandit camps unless a quest requires me to because the loot is uninteresting. I chose to boost up the loot in chests and many other unlooted and boring containers. Makes exploration way more interesting and it actually pays off to roam around for numerous hours. Exploration will get you richer and you will be able to buy these homes. I also found it pretty weirdly hard to find goat horns to put some light in my homes. And those hinges and other building item requirements that require so much iron and other special ingots, I thought it is a good idea to exploit some unused static objects to add more of these items available such as crates which should be filled with goods making the ships have real things instead of weird static boxes used for decoration.
