KWF Version 4.7.2 full patch notes:
    Click me! (Google Drive Link)

If you're using the KWFxCC House Compatibility patch or the Immersive Start patch, please update it along with the main mod. If you're using the Project Ja-Kha'jay Replacer by allonsywisegirl, please UNINSTALL it and then REINSTALL it after updating the main mod.

If you're updating from 4.7.1, KWF 4.7.1 mistakenly had the ESM flag ticked in xEdit, and 4.7.2 correctly does not. I suggest you either start from a clean save, or if you MUST have the ESM flag, open KWF in xEdit and re-add the ESM flag by clicking KWF, double clicking Record Flags on the right, and ticking the ESM box.

    What's new in 4.7.2

    Spoiler:
    Show

    • 1500 new dialogues, bringing the total line count for the mod to 13,800!
    • 1000+ new idle dialogues for male followers. KWF followers will now speak their minds a bit more while on the road with you. Comments include weather, location, dungeon type, city, items held, player crafting, etc.
    • I've tried to balance the idle dialogue frequency, but if it's too much, you can individually turn off each follower's commentary through the "Let's change something up" menu.
    • A handful of inter-follower banter scenes between KWF followers
    • 9 new book talks and 3 new conversations with Nanak
    • Implemented a Relax system for followers while in Inns or Player Homes. Speak to your follower or use the Khajiit-attuned Horn to tell them to rest and relax for a bit. While they're sitting, speak to them for some unique long-form conversations (currently only 1 convo for Bikhai and S'ariq, but more planned, including lessons in Ta'agra from Nanak).
    • Revoiced ~100 lines for improved audio quality.
    • Added a new note to the Shrine to the Lost Companion.
    • A whole host of tweaks and bug fixes.

    A few frequently asked questions:
    Spoiler:
    Show

    1) CAN YOU MAKE KWF START SILENTLY, WITHOUT AN ENTRY IN THE QUEST LOG?

There is an Immersive Start patch available in the Files section that does just that. You're welcome!

    2) IS KWF COMPATIBLE WITH AFT/OTHER FOLLOWER OVERHAULS?

No. There's a lot going on under the hood with KWF, and using follower overhauls may break KWF followers' AI, resulting in them refusing to follow, following after being dismissed, etc. If you are using AFT, you can do a few things to increase the odds KWF works:

    A) ALWAYS recruit and dismiss your follower using the KWF option. NEVER use the AFT option. Your follower will be added to AFT automatically on recruitment, but that is not a problem.
    B) Many AFT options seem to work fine, but DO NOT use the AFT option ("I need you do to something.") to have the follower do a favor for you, as it will cause their follower AI to bug out. Use the KWF "Will you do something for me?" option instead. Also, using the "Sleep" action command appears to lock you out of AFT options, so avoid it.
    C) If you aren't a fan of inappropriate dancing during conversations, make sure to include AFT's optional AFT_NoDance downloadable file in your load order. By default, AFT overwrites the IdleCiceroHappy idle animation, so instead of the vanilla "slight raising of the arms and nodding the head in agreement," you get an inappropriate custom AFT dance.

    3) THE FOLLOWER ABRUPTLY LEAVES CONVERSATION WHEN I ASK WHAT'S NEW, or THE "CAN I ASK YOU SOMETHING" OPTION HAS DISAPPEARED.

There appears to be a bug in the game engine's system for dialogues with long cooldowns that causes them to not properly progress through their cooldown timers. Waiting for 24 hours, one hour at a time, seems to fix this in some cases and cause dialogue options to return. Give it a try?

    4) I CAN'T FIND S'ARIQ AFTER FINISHING HIS QUEST. WHERE IS HE?

S'ariq hangs out in Whiterun behind Ysolda's house after you finish his quest. If you use a mod like Open Cities, you may not find him. This is because Open Cities creates a 2nd copy of Whiterun in the open world. It is not the "real" Whiterun, wich is still hidden behind a load screen. Refer to Open Cities mod page for how to access vanilla Whiterun. Then set a custom waypoint for S'ariq via the config options.

    5) I'M STUCK ON MA'KARA'S QUEST//HOW DO I GET MA'KARA TO MARRY ME?
A walkthrough for Ma'kara's quests has been posted in the Articles section. In order to for her to become eligible for marriage, you must complete both quests. Additionally, you must enable marriage by speaking to Maramal in Riften and getting an Amulet of Mara.

    6) WHAT ARE THE FOLLOWERS' REFIDs? I WANT TO DO CONSOLE COMMANDS AT THEM.

Check the Khajiit Will Follow: The Book you receive when first starting the mod for RefIDs for most major NPCs/items you could need.

    7) HOW CAN I GET MY SPOUSE TO MOVE INTO A CUSTOM HOUSE?

This answer is copied from a comment from user Juqu. I have not tested it and can't confirm it, so if you attempt this, definitely save beforehand.

How I set up married Ma'kara in custom player home using Nether's Follower Framework:

After marriage go to Follower Framework's MCM menu and tick the box for "Allow Import/Export dialogue".
Then take Ma'kara as a follower and choose the dialogue option "[add to framework (import)]
In popup box Choose yes to Apply recommended tweak settings to Ma'kara.
Take her to your custom house
In follower framework MCM menu create new base, set home/work/relax to your custom home and add Ma'kara to that base.
Talk to Ma'kara and choose [Remove from framework]
go to Follower Framework's MCM menu and untick the box for "Allow Import/Export dialogue".

Ma'kara will now stay in the home and have spouse dialogue when not a follower, and if dismissed as follower she will return to the custom home.

I removed her from framework because other fuctions of NFF can break the Khajiit will follow AI. This solution has worked for me so far, but there is no qurantee AI won't break at later date. Use at your own risk.

    KWF V4.7.2 Known Issues:
    Spoiler:
    Show

    • The "Can I ask you something?" option for the daily conversations, daily spouse conversations, and Nanak's daily book talks may not properly re-appear after the 20 hour cooldown. Try waiting for 24 hours, one hour at a time. I've had some success getting the options to reappear this way, when waiting for 24 hours all at once didn't work.
    • DynDOLOD Conflict? Unsure the cause of this, but I've had users report a conflict with DynDOLOD that is generating warnings from LOOT. KWF doesn't touch LOD, so I'm unsure what to make of this. For now, either
           A) disabling KWF before generating your LOD and sorting with LOOT and then re-enabling it, or
           B) making a rule in LOOT to load DynDOLOD after KWF should ensure that DynDOLOD takes precedence
should be an easy enough work-around. Currenetly investigating and will fix as soon as possible.

    KWF Compatibility Issues:
    Spoiler:
    Show

    1) AFT: Dancing during conversations: This mod makes use of the IdleCiceroHappy idle. The animation for this idle is replaced with a goofy, immersion-breaking dance by Amazing Follower Tweaks. AFT's modpage has a patch available to revert the idle to its original animation. Highly suggested.

    2) Open Cities: Inducting Bikhai into the Companions takes place in the Jorrvaskr training yard, which is in the vanilla Whiterun -- the one behind a load screen -- NOT the Open Cities Whiterun. To complete his ceremony, you'll have to access OG Whiterun. Check Open Cities documentation for how to get into OG Whiterun.

    3) Vigilant Patch x Project Ja-Kha'jay Compatibility: Using PJKJ with the Vigilant patch causes some navigation issues for Bikhai due to cramped spaces and his *ahem* largeness. Not much to be done unfortunately, except to use the summoning horn whenever he gets stuck.

    4) Khajiit Speak Redux: Potential issues with Khajiit Speak Redux and Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions resulting in some dialogue options not showing up, particularly relating to marriage and house selection. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING KHAJIIT SPEAK MODS WITH KWF.

    5) Solstice Castle: There is a known conflict with skyrimlazz's Solstice Castle. It occupies the same space as the Shrine to the Lost Companions, making both locations pretty unusable. I eventually plan to move the Shrine to a standalone mod, at which point I may move its location; however, for now there's not a lot to be done. Apologies for the inconvenience.

    6) JK's Skyrim: There is a known conflict with JK's Skyrim - Whiterun, where the placement of clutter items behind Ysolda's house overlaps with S'ariq's default position after breaking him out of jail. It's not gamebreaking, but it is worth mentioning.

    7) Bards College Expansion: BCE moves the interior of the Bards College to a new cell, which means that any KWF activities occurring in the college will not work properly. This includes the spawn locations for Nanak, the book for his quest, and the book for Ma'kara's quest. The BCE author has said they plan to add a way to access the vanilla Bards College, but because the mod is paid, it is not something I'll be able to make a patch for.

For now, you can teleport into the vanilla Bards College with the console command: coc SolitudeBardsCollege

    8) sothasimp's bed replacers: The geometry of these replacers may obscure or prevent picking up the Crumpled Note at the beginning of Bikhai's quest. Not a lot to be done here, other than using the TCL console command to clip inside Bikhai's bed and look on the floor for the note.

first off, i LOVE this mod. i love everything about it. But ive an issue

    i finally tried playing vigilant.
I decided to bring ma'kara with me, but it doesnt look like her dialouges are working.

i tried reinstalling the patch, put it as well as kwf at the BOTTOM of my plugins & LO, but still nothing..
i havent done much yet, i only played till the part where you kill the dremora in bee & barb, but so far i havent gotten a single line from ma'kara.. is something wrong?

      To go into more detail:

I believe this issue pertains to all kwf followers. I took nanak instead of makara, and likewise, no new dialouges.

I also tried putting vigilant and its english voice files at the bottom of my load & plugin order (but above kwf vigilant patch), didnt change anything.

I tried disabling mods like kwf uniques (gives perks to each follower ig), didnt help

I went to sse edit (ive no experience with it)
Loaded all my mods, then expanded all Kwfv boxes. KwfV patch won all. It did overwrite non masters like lighting mods, immersive citizens ai overhaul.
(I dont think i did a good job checking with sse edit though)

I also removed plugins like synthesis, which needed vigilant as master, and cleaned save using resaver.

I dont think i have any mods that modifies windpeak in..? I did have a mod that added doors, but i removed and cleaned the save, but to no avail :(

Hi Blobius. Not sure what the issue is here. Def seems like there's something going on with your LO/save file. A few things to check/try:

      1) You have NOT started Vigilant when you bring your KWF follower with you to accept Altano's invitation into the Vigilants, correct? If you already have started Vigilant, you CANNOT start the KWF patch afterward. They must both start together.

      2) Try recruiting a few KWF followers and then for each of them, go into their configuration dialogues and see if you can manually make them your Primary follower:

Speak to the follower --> Choose "Let's change something up..." --> Choose "I'm looking for a primary follower" --> Confirm your choice.

Once you've done this, make sure to make your desired follower (Ma'kara, I assume) your primary follower, make sure she is NOT set to wait for you, and then take her to the Dawnstar in and try speaking with Altano.

      3) Once you first enter the inn, double check that your follower is with you. If you join the Vigilants, they should approach you and initiate a conversation before you leave.

Let me know if you continue to have trouble.

I am SOOOO excited for the new Makara lines that I stopped playing until the update rolls out! I've been on and off with skyrim, and I think this time will be the time I finally commit! And I'll commit once the new Makara lines drop! I just want to thank you and everyone else for creating such a wonderful mod! I can't wait to fully explore all that this mod has to offer when the update releases!!!💗

My first time playing as Khajiit and I am sooo happy to have found your mod!
    Just one question:
    1. Is it compatible with the Anniversary Ed?
If so, should manual installation (putting into data folder) work?

    THX in advance!

Hi there. Sorry for the late reply. In answer to your questions:

      1) Yes, you'll need the latest version of Anniversary Edition for KWF.

      2) I don't recommend just dropping mods into your Data folder. While technically possible, it is MUCH safer and MUCH more convenient to use Mod Organizer 2 to handle your mods. It was a little tough for me to learn at first, but it comes with its own built in tutorial, and after doing that and watching a quick video, I was ready to go, and I honestly could not play Skyrim without it now.

No sorry, Inlee wait gladly ;)

      THX!
Since my heavy gaming days are over and I only plan to use this and maybe one or two other, I wanted to avoid mod organisers.
From a technical side, I am just curious, why it wont work. But no need for you to dive into this.

      Anyway! THX again!
I´ll see into it, when I got some time.

It's not that it won't work. It's more that manually adding and removing files from your data folder requires you to REALLY know what you're doing. If you accidentally leave some files behind when updating or uninstalling mods, it can result in unpredictable game behavior, up to and including crashes. Letting a mod manager handle it takes care of that automatically so you can be sure it's done right every time.

Plus, with bigger load orders, you start running into situations where multiple mods add the same file (i.e. two tree mods modify the same trees), so you start having to manually overwrite files that may result in mods not looking/working properly. A mod manager like MO2 lets you fiddle around with overwrites non-destructively to figure out which combination works the best in your game. But if you've only got a handful of mods, you may not need to worry about that so much.

In any case, best of luck with your next playthrough. :) Thanks for checking out my mod!

First time using this mod and I love it so far, however I have one problem, I don't think Ma'kara's idle dialogue works. After traveling around with her alot I noticed she was fairly silent and didn't have much to say, so I messed around with the settings of another follower and noticed she doesn't have "when we're not in combat" option to toggle on and off and I was wondering if that had something to do with it?

It's not that it doesn't work. It's that it doesn't exist yet. I'm working on an update that will give her more "entering combat" and "leaving combat" commentaries to bring her in line with the males, and the next update after that, I will focus on adding world commentaries for her. Sorry for the trouble!

The only thing that will make Chatur'jo not spawn in one of his locations is if you are currently in the middle of the Civil War quests. Otherwise, he should be there, or else you have some sort of conflict with another mod.

I'm not sure about  USSEP, but the reason KWF is mentioned is because there is a triggerbox outside of Mzulft that allows KWF followers to comment as the player approaches it the first time. This triggerbox has been tested multiple times, including in my current 600-mod load order, so I know it works properly. There's something going on in your game. Typically, CTDs are either from bogus textures/meshes trying to load in, or some sort of script firing that causes a critical error. It's also possible there's a bad interaction going on between 2 mods. To see if it's a script thing or a random world encounter, try fast traveling to a few places, wait for 24 hours, maybe go clear out a dungeon, and then return to Mzulft and see if the crash persists. If it does, you're down to disablign chinks of mods at a time to see which one is the culprit. Best of luck!

okay i give up, i have spent almost about 40 hours trying to find the way to push forward the vigilant commentary with nanak(primary) where he he keep saying "have you found the way to open the gates yet" during act 2 right before entering lamae room no matter how many times i move the lever he still repeats it, if i dont have a conversation and just head to the lamae room then he will never ever comment and just blindly follow forever and only other followers start to comment during act 3, please if you know an set stage command to fix or pass this gate dialogue please please let me know, im about to rip my own eyes out and pull out every hair on my head its driving me insane ;(
note: i do not use any any follower frameworks or requiem, any survival mods, any alternatives starts or anything that needs 1 trillions of patches

Sorry you're having trouble. Not sure what went wrong, but give this console command a try after opening the gate:

      setstage KWFBMScenes 32

That should begin a forcegreet where Nanak walks up to you and tells you the gate is open. After completing that conversation, you can continue on to the Blood Matron's room. Let me know if this fixes the problem for you.

thanks again for the reply and for giving a brother a helping hand, it means a lot and I'm very grateful although the command was correct this time yet it didn't actually work until i tried experimenting with different numbers a bit until i managed to get it to work by using setstage KWFVBMScenes 50 while inside lamaes coffin room and then 52 0r 53 something to get the rest of it and everything completely worked up until act 3 where nanak also somehow entered the manor too while not commenting then i remembered somewhere on reddit that primary follower supposed to make a scene after act 3 which was odd why nanak unlike others didn't disappear at act 3 despite the banging on the door and voices at the beginning while entering but fortunately he disappeared during act 4 and right now i found him in his new skeleton like self and body and so far things going smoothly and back to normal
thank you my friend, you have saved my sanity and me from being one step away from mantling Sheogorath, Azura bless you serjo
