There is a mod that fixes this called Bug Fixes SSE by meh321.
The customize killmove feature uses a spell/magic effect that activates when the player triggers a killmove, a script is fired at the end of the killmove using the OnEffectFinish() event that then chooses the next killmove.
If you're experiencing the same killmove over and over again, or this mod or some other mod has just stopped working over time, it's possible meh321's mod may fix your issues. If it doesn't, I don't have any other ideas.
Nothing works and customize killmoves is grayed out VioLens mirrors Skyrim's vanilla killmove state when you first install it, to customize killmoves you have to set killmoves to On:Customized. After that, you have to actually customize the killmoves for each weapon yourself or load one of the presets that comes with VioLens.
JContainers This is just a utility to allow loading and saving text files for the MCM, it doesn't interact with killmoves in any way. It is only needed if you are using the profile system to load and save settings.
Decapitations cause crashing This is a bug caused by overlays, it will happen with or without VioLens installed. Next-Gen Decapitations fixes this.
Werewolf killmoves freezing at the start I think at some point these killmoves actually worked properly, maybe before patch 1.5 in 2012? Either way, another vanilla bug. There's a mod called Precision Creatures that fixes the freezing. It can be installed and used without needing to use Precision. Requires patching with Nemesis.
Modern Combat Overhauls I don't use any of these newer 3rd person combat mods, but if you are using them, I'm sure they either have some patch to make them work with VioLens, or will let you know if they aren't compatible. Since VioLens was made well before any of them existed, I can't help you with how it may or may not interact with these kinds of mods. Check their descriptions and comment sections to see if there are patches you need.
New Hotness When VioLens first released, my predecessor, DaedalusAI, the author of The Dance of Death, was nice enough to mention it as an alternative. As such, after about 10 years, if you wanna check out a new killmove mod, see if Kaputt - Melee Killmove Manager suits you better. I haven't tried it myself, but it seems promising, and is using an SKSE DLL plugin. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All right, that's all I've got. I'll check back in around 2030 when TESVI releases and they've stripped all of the killmoves out of that too.

So, kill cams the kill moves work properly for all enemies except magic spell caster. When I perform a melee kill move the enemy would spin and spiral vertically and glitch out. Making the enemy unkillable why is this? The mod works but this one issue is bugging me and ive only noticed it when attacking human mage enemies. Any help or advice is appreciated idk how to fix this.

is there any to make this work in vr? ive been searching for a mod that makes at least the first person finishers animate like they did in flat screen version, but in the vanilla game there is no viewable player body so all you see are decapitations where the character suddenly looks scared and their head pops off suddenly lol. however, most people playing in vr are also using Higgs, planked and VRIK which lets you see your player body and it moves with proper ik, so im hoping it might be as simple as editing a value somewhere that has the player body's visibility disabled. i think most vr players would be fine with seeing the game take control of their body for long enough to perform an intense finishing move.
and if that is indeed possible, then it would open the door to be able to see all of this mods incredible moves in vr! mabye even have a gesture system that could trigger specific killmoves based on things like horizontal slash, vertical slash, stab ect. so that they contextually make sense and it allows the player a natural way to execute these!
If you're using Vortex, make sure to restart it after installing mods that contain plugins. Then check if said plugin is enabled - Vortex is quite laggy as of late.
Shortly after installing the Smooth Cam mod Violens stopped showing the 3rd person slow motion camera for close combat killmove, and now this camera only happens for ranged and magic attacks.
I have uninstalled the Smooth Cam mod, but this has not changed the situation, I can't see the close combat killmoves in the 3rd person slow motion camera.
Why are melee and archery working properly, only magic is wrong, magic only animates on mice, and has no effect at all on other enemies Has anyone had the same problem

You won't get any error but it does disable kill moves. I repeat, it will disable your kill moves. Not sure why but it does. Probably has something to do with animation.
Well, you will get kill moves but only in Werewolf/Vampire form.
See Mo's TUDM Patch Collection to fix compatibility with VioLens and other TUDM related issues. And make sure to click on "reset" in VioLens MCM menu after installing the patch.
If anybody's reading me please tell me how can I stop AI doing killcam moves on ennemies that aren't supposed to be killed with a killcam which cause a bug where the creature is invincible for few seconds and the human npc/follower just turn around the creature and just keep doing a killcam that cannot work causing me real headaches and ridiculous moments... I can just disable killcams on creatures with the MCM feature in this mod but I'd like to keep them and get rid of this issue or at least preventing npc's to trigger killcams on ennemies that aren't supposed to be "killcamable"...

Also doesn't show the non-cinenatic version. In general, all 3rd-person killmoves never occur.
