Place the folder correctly: Move the entire unzipped BVPortraits folder to: Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\Mods\Portraiture\Portraits
4. Enable the High-Resolution Portrait in the Game: Launch the game and talk to a Baldur's Village NPC to open a dialogue. When you see the 1/4 portrait, press "p" to activate the high-resolution portrait and view the full image.
5. Troubleshooting: If you've completed all the above steps but the portraits still don’t display correctly, please try the following:
1. Check for the dialogue box: Press 'P' during dialogue. Do you see a box in the top left corner (e.g., "vanilla -> HDP")?
i. If not:
a. The Portraiture mod might not be installed correctly. Please go back to step 1 and reinstall it.
b. There could be a conflict with another mod using the same button. Try pressing different buttons or adjusting the mod configuration.
ii. If yes:
Continue to step 2.
2. Verify the "BVPortraits" folder:
Since you see the small box, the Portraiture mod is installed correctly. Next, press p to cycle through and check if the "BVPortraits" folder is present in the small box.
i. If the folder name is missing:
The Portraiture mod can’t locate the correct folder. Ensure you have extracted the "BVPortraits" folder (with all images) correctly into the target location. If your files are in a folder named something like BVPortraits-30888-1-6-0-1741315288, it means a 2-layer folder was moved into the target location, which Portraiture mod cannot read. Instead, move the inner folder 'BVPortraits' (not the parent folder with the long numbers) into the target location, and delete the empty parent folder.
***Note: This indicates that the two-layer folder was accidentally moved to the target location.
I could have very well missed some of the items this mod adds, but I played through over a full in-game year and reached perfection but never found a number of items that are were added to the shipping collection tab. I used the Lookup Anything mod to see what the items were and things such as the night orchid, first-aid bandage, whetstone, cabbage, and some other items that are even loved gifts to the BG3 characters. I ended up spawning them in using CJB Item Spawner in order to finish the save because I just could not find these items. And yes, I was checking Rolan's shop multiple days of the week throughout the entire year, as I did notice some things were seasonal or only showed up on certain days.
i dont know if i am doing something wrong but i cannot get astarion's 10 heart event to trigger. he sent me a letter in the morning and no matter how many times i try to reenter baldur's village after 4, nothing is triggering.
I've not played Stardew Valley before so this is the only mod I've used. Does it play well with other mods? I am backing up my saves, just in case, before installing a second mod but wondered if anyone had any experience with using Baldur's Village and say, one of the mods that changes the children's appearance? I'm at the point where my farmer is married to Astarion and I've upgraded to the larger house. I can't find any comments online by people who are further along and whether or not having or adopting children with Astarion is an option but if so, I'd like to use one of the mods that either let's me choose or change the children's appearance. Most of those require the spouse to be one of the original (or not added by a mod) characters to have the children look like the spouse but the one I'm tempted to try out looks like it lets you custom/choose a look of any of the original characters so if the kids can't look like my spouse, I'd like them to at least have the same/similar hair color as my farmer (similar hair color as Robyn, Leah, Elliot).
Hey Ive gotten this far with Astarion and have the children mods in question. What I found is that I had to make a folder labeled "Astarion" in the Unique Children mod folder under "Assets" in both the "adopted" and "natural" folder and manually edit the sprites to have a combination of mine and Astarions features. Hope this helps!
Thanks! I don't think I need to do a combination. The mod (I may not have the name exactly right) is Kali's Less Creepy Children and the Riverside (or something River) has a character named June who's kids look close enough for me. Per the notes, there's something about using a clipper to maybe just choose another sprite if it already exists in the files. Not sure, it's all new to me, I just play games and use mods others have created and never tried to make a change to something that wasn't already provided by the mod :) If I can't figure it out from your reply, I'll ask hubby or son about it ;)
Did Astarion ask your farmer about having kids, or did you manually edit the sprites for future use? I've only seen one other person mention Astarion and kids and I have no idea if they are using the mod that basically replaces Elliott with Astarion or Baldur's Village but according to a Google search, AI answered that Baldur's Village does not include Astarion and the farmer having (biological) or adopting children.

For me and my friend who is stuck in vanilla for over 150 hours, it's a breath of fresh air, but I wanted to clarify: is there a full list of what other characters besides Astarion like and dislike? I couldn't find any information about it. Also, we just started the game, am I right in understanding that at the moment you can only meet Astarion? Thanks in advance
You can meet the main (origin) characters except Wyll and Karlach, along with Halsin, and others. I believe all of them or most of them have 8 hearts and can be given gifts and leveled up as friends. Astarion is currently the one romanceable one, possibly the only one with "heart events" (I haven't played Stardew Valley before this mod so I don't know if all of the characters have heart events as you level up as friends or only the ones that can be involved in a romance). It has been posted that the intention is for Halsin to be the next romanceable BG3 character.

I did check my game and Halsin, as well as Gale, Shadowheart, Lae'zel, etc. (oddly Rolan is not included on the list although he is a character you can talk to), all have 10 hearts, 2 check boxes under gifts and the conversation check box so it appears that you can level up friendships with them. The romanceable/"single" characters all have only 8 hearts, which is what Astarion had. I'm not sure what would happen if you "leveled" up friendship with Halsin now, and went beyond 8 hearts before an update makes him a romanceable character (if it was me, I wouldn't push beyond 7, just in case). Also, if you like BG3, and Stardew Valley, I highly recommend this mod. There are quite a few cute things that you see and the BG3 characters say. I can totally hear Neil's voice as Astarion in my head while reading Astarion's conversations, often with his laugh or giggle, occasionally with the sarcasm and snark :)
