I can confirm that it works however, the main menu music still plays in the background while the custom music does as well.

Nevermind I am an idiot. You have to turn off the actual music settings to hear the custom music.

It seems like there's something weird going on with the NG+ MM music because a normal save plays the music just fine but the NG+ music plays at the same time as the custom music. It's also extremely quiet

Yeah I haven't gotten to New Game+ yet but I heard you need to only use 1 file, named the other bunch of numbers I listed. You don't want to use both at once, just the new game+ one. I don't know why and I can't test it because I haven't beaten it yet. You'll need to rename that file to match the new game+ numbers in the description, but only use 1 file. Standard or NG+, not both.

If you try to load both, then both will play at the same time. Just use 1.

I also can't confirm the NG+ numbers are correct but a huge amount of other Starfield players report it works.

      ---------

The music is quiet because it's completely unmixed and unmastered. It's not meant to be used, it's just a test to see if the custom music loads properly. (on a side note, another post said to mix and master your music to hover around -6dBFS and it'll sound more equal volume to the rest of the game.)

This mod's music isn't meant to actually be played with, it's just to show that the formatting does correctly load if you make your own custom music as described.

Use only one of them. If you have done NG+, use this one. If not done, use the other

Ah ok that makes sense then. I added both versions to the folder.

Just beat the game and I think you're right-- the file number I provided for NG+ isn't one of the music files-- it's controlled by the FX volume setting which is quieter than everything else.

It plays underneath a sound effect that's controlled by the music volume setting.

I'll try to find the sound ID for both of those and see if I can get this working with NG+.
I had just copied that NG+ number from elsewhere but now that I beat the game I see what you mean. I'll try to find the right number.

Awesome, thank you for making this. Had a lot of trouble getting custom music to work in the first place. But now it works so that's a + anyways.

Did you ever figure out what the other sound files are that play with the music on NG+?

@09jlardinois f*#@ bugthesda for this new proprietary sound format bullshit. We should be able to easily find and replace any track with fucking .mp3 files not this fucking bullshit. >:(

I am currently also hunting for that information (what the other sound files are playing with the music on NG+). If anyone knows, please let me know.

Edit: Okay, I figured it out. It actually is a whole bunch of files that are loaded and mixed by a script. I made a template mod you may use to get rid of them

Idk what I'm doing wrong.. I've followed your steps to a T, but only the generic main menu music plays. So unbelievably frustrating.
